The Story
The Legends Of Rock "Live At Castle Donington" is a Japanese DVD featuring Uli Jon Roth, Jack Bruce and Schenker/Mogg/Way in concert on June 23rd, 2001. Roth's group features guitarist Roth (ex-Scorpions), Jack Bruce on bass (Cream), Clive Bunker on drums (ex-Jethro Tull), Don Airey on keyboards (Rainbow/Deep Purple/Ozzy Osbourne) and Barry Sparks on bass (Dokken/Yngwie Malmsteen/Michael Schenker). Two Hendrix tracks - "All Along The Watchtower" and "Little Wing" offer particularly superb guitar soloing from Mr Roth. Seeing Schenker and Roth on the same stage with Roth jamming leads over "Rock Bottom" and "Let It Roll" is a real trip. The sound ain't great (there's the occasional dropout), the camera work and editing ain't great (sometimes the camera is on Moog playing 'air mic' when Roth/Schenker are ripping), but the experience is special.
