Larry Carlton
Sleepwalk
The Story
"Sleepwalk", named after the Santo Farina/John Farina/Ann Farina instrumental classic, offers up Carlton's signature jazz fusion as he heard it back in 1982. "Last Nite" and "10:00 P.M." are two tracks from this album which audiences at Carlton's live shows have come to expect - and revel in their entended solo passages. Check out the slow blues burn in "Blues Bird" for an example of Carlton at his soulful best. A number of outstanding drummer appear on the album, such as Steve Gadd and Jeff Porcaro, while Pops Popwell and Abraham Laboriel hold down the low end on most tracks. Guitarists, take note, there's a lot to garner from this MCA release.
