Wicked Underground
The Story
"Wicked Underground" capitalizes upon the marriage of bright vocal harmonies (courtesy of Jeff Pilson) and rough guitar licks (thanks to Mr. Scary, George Lynch) that Dokken fans have long adored. This balance of aggression and melody is found everywhere from the opening stomp of "Breath And A Scream" to the acoustic linings of "Ever Higher" to the electronic garnishes of "Awaken." Both George and Jeff found the songwriting process rewarding and productive, not surprising considering the talent involved. "Jeff and I were the backbone writers in Dokken, and I always thought we had a great chemistry," Lynch relates. "Left on my own, my writing tends to be darker. Jeff brings a lighter, more polished atmosphere to everything we do."
