Neal Schon's "Late Nite" is a breathtaking, mostly instrumental work of mood lifting rock tinged with blues and soul. Released just before Schon joined the group Bad English, the CD offers some standout tracks, including the positively charged "Steps", the bluesy title cut, the incredibly lyrical "Softly", and the passionate "Inner Circles" The inclusion of the eccentric "Blackened Bacon" is a reminder that Schon also refuses to play it safe. "Late Nite" is a wonderful introduction (or reminder) of Schon's creativity and talent as a guitarist.
