Perry Woods

A Bit Of Reggae, A Bit Of Blues

Singer/guitarist/songwriter Perry Woods recently submitted his latest CD-R release May This Be Love. Featuring eight songs described as 'meditative pop', Woods channels heavy influences such as Bob Marley and Stevie Ray Vaughan into his moving, soothing music. Standout tracks include the live "I Love You", a soulful number which is just Woods on vocals and guitar, and the bluesy "Milky Way", with its Hendrixian overdriven lead section. Woods is a marvelous rhythm guitarist, and can add a lead part that will give you chills. His vocal style, influenced by great artists such as Sam Cooke, Bobby Bland and Dave Matthews prove that Woods is no one-trick pony. He is one of the few artists that can take both guitar and vocal ability and combine it into a satisfying package. Hopefully more original work will be produced by this up-and-coming musician.

Perry was born in Born in Creve Coeur, Missouri. With influences like Sam Cooke, Brook Benton, Nat King Cole, and Elvis Presley, Perry's father, Perry Sr., passed on an amazing vocal style to his son. Seeing performances and listening to records by artists such as Marley, Hendrix and Vaughan where truly inspirational to the young musician. Perry states, "The great men and women who influenced me helped me create a style of my own. No one can be them. It is a waste of time to try. But we all can take their visions on to the next generation."

Currently, Woods is doing showcases for different record labels and touring, both in the United States and abroad.
