Yngwie J. Malmsteen
Magnum Opus
The Story
The neo-classical guitar wizard Yngwie J. Malmsteen (He of the Incredible Chops) originally released "Magnum Opus" in 1995. The CD features grandiose classics such as "Vengeance", "Fire In The Sky" and "I'd Die Without You", as well as Instrumentals such as "Overture 1622", "Dawn" and "Cantabile". "Vengeance", in particular, has a jaw-dropping shred solo that will put air guitarists in heaven. Vivaldi's "Cantabile" is a bonus track that was added when the disc was originally released in Japan, then re-released by Spitfire Records in 2000. Neo-classical fand as well as dyed-in-the-wool Malmsteen junkies will find "Magnum Opus" a necessary item for their collection.
