Larry Carlton
Larry Carlton
The Story
The album "Larry Carlton" was a definitive statement by this talented jazz/rock fusion guitarist, stepping out from behind gigs such as the Crusaders and Steely Dan to deliver influential licks, runs and lines in the "LA" style. Carlton is backed here by Toto's Jeff Porcaro on drums, and session ace Abraham Laborial on bass. The CD showcases a bit of Carlton's rock side, in contrast to some of the smooth jazz style sounds he would record in later years. Highlights include "Point It Up" and the opening track, "Room 335", named after the studio Carlton inhabits.
