Michael Hedges
Watching My Life Go By
The Story
Guitarist MIchael Hedges, known for his percussive fingerstyle tappings and brilliant technique, incorporates singing on this effort, entitled "Watching My Life Go By". Hedges' voice is real, honest and poignent - the ideal accompaniment to the host of interesting sounds he regularly coaxes from his acoustic guitar. Special guests include Michael Manring on bass and Bobby McFerrin on vocals ("The Streamlined Man"). A special highligh is Hedges' cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower". Hedges even chips in with more instrumentation on "Watching My Life Go By", contributing flute, keyboards, and even harmonica to a couple of tracks. An emotional, musically engaging work.
